This municipality practices agro-forestry and is located at the southeastern limit of the Rivière-du-Loup MRC on a high Appalachian plateau. It is considered a small central hub because of the presence, within its territory, of healthcare, social services and recreational institutions available to the surrounding area. There is also an industrial park that has a few processing businesses, the major one pressure molds metal parts.
The tract of public lands found to the southeast of Saint-Cyprien is a major source of forestry, animal and recreational resources. Its southern border is Lake Témiscouata where, at the lake’s head, there are eco-site recreational installations.
