The municipality of Saint-François-Xavier-de-Viger is located on the edge of the Appalachian plateau between Saint-Épiphane and Saint-Hubert-de-Rivière-du-Loup, 25 km east of the town of Rivière-du-Loup. Its elevation is 350 meters, making it the highest village in the MRC. This dominant position offers some panoramic views of the villages on the St. Lawrence plain and on a clear day, the view from the 7th rang (concession road) extends 100 km to the north.
In spite of its agricultural past, today, Saint-François’ vocation is principally forestry.
